American Honey

In May, I made a trip to Washington DC to visit my cousin and help her move from one condo to another. I drove to Houston airport to catch my flight on Thursday and let me just say that airport was a city in itself. I was extremely stressed by the time I parked my car and jumped on a shuttle to take me to the airport. Once I got checked in and made my way to security. While standing in the security, the man ahead of me kept trying to make small talk. I could tell he was dying to talk so I finally engaged in conversation. It was a typical airport conversation, where are you headed and why? He started telling me where he was going and why and his story was crazy. Apparently he owned his own company and something serious had happened at one of his jobs sites and the FBI, govenor, and other agencies were involved. I was so nervous by the time I boarded my plane thinking someone might have spotted us talking and think that I was a part of all that. UGH!! Finally boarded my plane and 3 hours later I landed in DC. I got caught up with Crystal and got my luggage. We went to dinner and then home for bed. I was exhausted.

Friday she had to work a while so we went to Starbucks and then she dropped me back off at her house and I rested all day long. It was wonderful. I napped and Facebooked!! She came home later that afternoon and we met her new landlord at her new place and they went over some stuff. We were going to start moving stuff in, but a bad storm came so we went grabbed some dinner and went to this awesome custard place for ice cream. It was amazing!!When we got home from dinner we moved some things over. Saturday we woke up and started moving stuff at 6 am. We pretty much moved everything besides the stuff she had set aside for paid movers to move that afternoon. We stopped and went and grabbed some lunch and came back to wait on the movers. They showed up and moved it all in an hour. So we took showers immediately since we were soaked with sweat and just filthy!! After that we cooked up some pizza and had some Champagne. I guess that is what you do on the first night in a new place. We worked on unpacking stuff, but we were pretty tired.

Sunday we woke up and went to church and headed to Georgetown to walk around. I was looking forward to shopping in H&M and some other stores. So we went and ate brunch at Dean and Deluca which is a really cool grocery type store and then we walked around and shopped. When we were getting ready to leave we headed to my last request Georgetown Cupcakes. I had read blogs about this place and I was super excited to go.

We chose to get six flavors and split them all. So basically I spent $20 on 6 cupcakes!! Ridiculous, but awesome!! We got chocolate w/white icing, strawberry, chocolate coconut, peanut butter chocolate, red velvey cake, and yellow w/chocolate icing. We enjoyed 2 there and then the next 2 that evening while watching Miss USA and hanging pictures. The next 2 were for breakfast on Monday before I left that afternoon. I flew out on Monday and drove back from Houston that evening. Once again the Houston airport was a disaster!! It took 4 shuttles before someone would finally let me on and take me to my car! I was even more frustrated. It was a great trip and it made me realize how much I miss Crystal. Sometimes I just wish we could live together the rest of our lives and travel around the world together! I never thought we would be this close, but we are and I am not complaining.
On another note, lately I have just been working and hanging out pool or lakeside. Memorial day I went over to my dad and step mom's house. We spent Saturday, Sunday, and part of Monday out at the lake. It was a blast. They cooked a big dinner on Sunday and it was a blast. I headed back on Monday. I have just been trying to keep my tan by hanging out in the sun. LOL This last weekend I went back to my dads to hang out at the lake again. It is always a good time over there. I am looking forward to going to Arkansas over the fourth for a good friends wedding and spending time with my momma. Then at the end of July going to Lake Saint John with my step moms family and I just found out I may be going to the beach in August with a friend so I am keeping my fingers crossed!! Well I better get off here I have some stuff to finish up before The Hills comes on!!
Until next time!

Time to give it a rest

I am trying harder to blog more since my life is so exciting here in Texas! HAHA! This week it has been in the 90's all week here. So hot it was sufficating!! They tell me I haven't seen anything yet. Oh my! I haven't been up to much. Last weekend I went home for my brother's 16th birthday and mother's day with my mom. I took picutres of the party, but my iPhone crashed on Sunday and I had to restore its settings so it erased all recent pictures. The reason I didn't use my camera is because I had misplaced my charger during the move and I had to call FujiFilm and order a new one! So I have nothing to show for my weekend in Arkansas. I couldn't believe my brother was actually turning 16!! I feel so old and I am not old! HA!

This week was month end so it was a busy week for me here. I left my dog in Arkansas because I am going to Washington DC on Thursday and mom is a free dogsitter unlike boarding. LOL! Needless to say it has been really lonely here this week without her around. Friday was my last day in the Nacogdoches office because next week I have to start working from Center. That drive is going to stink, but the experience will be good.

Today has been pretty low key, just cleaned the house and started getting things together for the trip next week. I received a package today in the mail from my mom. Inside was this beauty!!

I found this Hobo wallet in Arkansas when I was home and my mom bought it and sent it to me to replace this torn up thing. She bought the leopard one 3 years ago for Christmas and it is time to give it a rest!!

I have the best mom and family anyone could ever ask for. She is always there for me and always so thoughtful. I wish I was home this weekend to spend Mother's Day with her!! I thought I would leave you with a picture of the hog we killed while hog hunting. I know I mentioned that in the previous post! So enjoy!!

Until next time, Happy Mother's Day to all mothers!

A Big Move

Wow, it has been a really long time since I have blogged!! I can't believe it has been over year since the last time I updated! There have been many changes in my life over the past year. Where to begin? I graduated college in May 2009 and after a graduation party that was a huge success I was ready to take on the world. A special thanks to my parents for putting me through college and throwing the huge party after my long journey. Those college days are definitely missed right now let me tell you!!

I continued my career with Tyson after college. The holidays in 2009 were spent with many family and friends. All celebrations were great, but at the same time sad because I was in the middle of making a big move in my career and moving here

Yes I moved to Texas!!! It was a huge step for me because I had never been away from home. I was excited to get away because I had been through a lot emotionally over the past year or so while living in NWA. So I accepted the position with Tyson and traveled back and forth for a couple of weeks. Then in the middle of January my parents came down to help me move into my new home. Once I got settled in and started to meet people at work and outside of work I was fine. Luckily, I knew a few people down here when I made the move so that made it much easier. I have been lucky to be in a job that will allow me to come home when I need to come home. It is about a 7 hour drive so I usually have to take a Friday or Monday off so I can at least get some things done when I am home. I have had a few trainings at corporate which have allowed me to spend about 2 or 3 weeks at home since I have moved.

The people I work with are great and I feel right at home when I come to work each day. Some of them have exposed me to Texas life outside of work with such things as Texas country music, shopping, places to eat, riding rangers, and hog hunting! Yes hog hunting!!! Majority of the people I have met down here have good southern hospitality! They invite me to all occasions while they give a hard time about being from the "Bill Clinton State" or being a Razorback. All in all a really good time everywhere I have been.

I still have my doggie, Ki, and she has adapted good to the move. She still likes to go back to Arkansas and run with the big dogs. My family has coped with the move well. Each time I go back home though I can tell they miss me more and more! It has been a huge adjustment for everyone involved, but a good one though. Overall, I am happy with the decision I made to move with my job. I think that this would have been something I would have regretted not doing later on in my life. Plus, I have gotten to meet a lot of people while getting good work experience. I hope to be back in the Arkansas area in the near future, but who knows what my future holds.

One thing is for sure though, I will not be cheering for Texas and throwing the horns up sign!!!

I wish weekends were longer!!!!!

Hello again!!! The past few weeks have been crazy busy!!! I am just now getting to update. Work is going really good. I have been talking to a lot of people with my company about my future there!!! I think things are going to be good in the end. I have just been praying about that everyday!! School is good, as well!!! I was getting into the swing of things and then the ice storm came and no school for a WEEK!!! It took a lot for me to show up on Tuesday and Thursday trust me!!!! Tests start this week, but I am so ready to be out of school it is not even funny. I applied for graduation and paid my $25 to the U of A. Why was I surprised that I would have to pay to graduate??? They crack me up. I will be getting my cap and gown in the next few weeks plus ordering my announcements. I am very excited about my graduation party because I will get to have one big one!!! Usually, my mom has one and then my dad's family has one for me, but not this time they are planning it together. I cannot tell you how happy that makes me. Mom has already told me some of the plans she is making and it is going to be so awesome. I told her I wanted a Razorback cake, of course, with the fight song on it! Ha.

So right now I am just working and finishing up school. I have been working a lot, but it is going to pay off in the end. Ki is going to be going to the vet in the next couple of weeks to get fixed and get her teeth cleaned and a few pulled. I am a little nervous because she is so tiny, but she is fine!! I am off the day for a dentist appointment as well so I will be anxious to pick her up. My gallbladder appointment was Friday because it was rescheduled due to the ice storm. I should know when my surgery is going to be tomorrow.

Besides school and work, I have been out a few times with friends and a special person!!! My birthday is coming up so I have been figuring out what we are going to do for that. It should be fun!!! I know some old friends are going to be attending!!! Oh and don't forget Valentines' Day!!! I can't wait to see what I get from a VIP!!! I have been to the movies a few times and I have plans to see a few more movies in the next few weeks!!! Why is it that all the movies I like come out at the same time? I have never been to the movies this much in my life especially in the past two years!! I wonder why???

These movies were so good!!! I cried like a baby in Marley & Me!!! I cried worse then ANY other time in my life!!! Seriously!!!! I hope I will be like Renee in New in Town come this May!! That is my goal anyways!!! There are a few more movies I will be seeing and I will post about them after I have been to see them!!! I guess I better get off here and finish up my DVRs from the past week. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!!!
Good bye for now, Liz!!!!

Out with the Old, In with the New!!!

I decided to take my bathroom decorations in my bathroom and put them up in my guest bathroom.

I put new decorations in my bathroom. I decided to use Chocolate Brown and Light Blue. I found the perfect shower curtain and I decorated around. I am still in the process of finishing up pictures and accessories, but I love it so far!!!

I used Chocolate brown rugs, but they are not like the usually fluffy bathroom rugs they are more flat. I have simply flowers and matching decorations on my counter. I got a recliner and an ottoman for my living room when I got back from DC. They are ivory suede!!! My next project is to get a new comforter and curtains for my room!!!

I had a busy weekend and I got some good news regarding some new friends!!! I actually got to hang out with several friends this weekend and I loved every minute of it!! I had church and church dinner today!! My gallbladder is giving me some pain today so I am so excited to get this thing removed. I have a busy week ahead so I don't know when I will be back on to update!!

Have a good week!!

Some of Christmas...

I wasn't able to share my Christmas with you because I was getting ready for DC. My dad and step mom did make it up the day after Christmas! We had a really good visit it was short but good. I went to a couple Christmas parties that my friends hosted. I went to 5 Christmas gatherings in total. I am posting some pictures of my Christmas week!!!

My Dad and I under the Mistletoe!!!

My Dad and Step Mom

Savannah (my cousin), Nanny, and I

The plate I painted for my dad and step mom in Razorback colors. They loved it!!!The plate I painted for my mom and step dad in neutral colors so mom could display it anywhere!! I had so much fun painting and making crafty items for Christmas presents this year!Lyndsay and I were working and doing family stuff so we were unable to get together and exchange Christmas presents until I got back from DC. We met for dinner at our favorite Italian place and exchanged our presents. This is Lyndsay with her ornament and her magnet I got for her in DC!!

And this would be me and my little angel!!! We had a photo shoot in front of my Aunts christmas tree!!! I don't know what I would do without her in my life!!! She is my everything!!!!

Life is so Busy!!!!

Wow, I don't even know where to begin!!! I haven't written since December. Well, I went to Washington D.C. to stay with my cousin for a week. Words cannot explain to you how awesome it was!!! We were busy everyday. I took over 400 pictures. I realized when I how much I missed her being in my day to day life when I was there that week. Our flight left Monday at 6 am so we had to get up at 3 am to get ready to be there on time. We had a nice flight there and I had a nice flight back. I was introduced to a completely different atmosphere there that's for sure, but I LOVED IT!!!! Here are some pictures below:

At the airport at 5am in the morning!!

At the Lincoln Memorial on the first day. The weather was great, but I wore the wrong shoes this day. I thought my feet were going to fall off!!!

Here I am in front of the capital!!

At the American History Museum with a huge purple quartz.

We had a wonderful New Year at one of Crystal's friends in Maryland. We had an interesting driving experience on our way there, but if hadn't been on the phone Crystal might have not been distracted. We did some shopping and ate at some really cool restaurants. I came home on Saturday and rested up for the next week. We celebrated my mom's 43rd birthday. I got her a really cool gift in DC and I made her a Bailey's Cake for her party!!

Here she is with her cake!!! I couldn't ask for a more amazing mom!!! Sometimes we don't see eye to eye, but no matter what she is my Beautiful Mother!!!

I started school a couple weeks ago. It seems to be going really good. Now I am just trying to get things lined up for jobs and graduation in May. I met with my Boss' Boss to discuss my future with the company I am currently with, and I feel really good about staying there. I am planning on applying other places and maybe even out of this area.

I have just been spending time with friends and working out since the New Year has arrived. I started Pilates and Yoga. I love it!! It is amazing how much better you feel if you work out and drink water. I actually didn't get all my water in yesterday and I felt awful!! I couldn't believe I could tell a difference!! I have been eating extremely healthy and I have had nothing but water and milk in a month!!! I have lost some weight and I feel amazing.

I found out what was causing my stomach pains for the past 4 or 5 months, GALLSTONES!! Yes, I have Gallstones and I have to have my Gallbladder removed. I meet with the surgeon on Tuesday and I will probably schuedule it as soon as possible!! Apparently, they just show up in people. No one in my family have had them before?

Well I better get off here, I am going on a dinner date!! I got off work early since I have been working late on Thursdays. I hope you had a wonderful New Year and enjoyed my update on what I have been up to!!! I will try to get better at updating this more often!! Life is so crazy!! I think I have something to do every day and night of the week at this time in my life.
